Take Care Health Systems, a wholly owned subsidiary of Walgreens, has opened two local clinics since May 27 as part of a steady growth that bucks the national trend.
The first local Take Care Health Clinic opened in the Walgreens at 3336 11th St., Rockford. The second opened June 23 in Belvidere at 230 W. Chrysler Drive. Stores at 2323 Charles St. in Rockford and 5065 Hononegah Road in Roscoe are slated to open clinics by the end of the year.

Less than two years after opening, all four InstaClinic locations have closed.
Still, Schnuck Markets Inc., which housed the health clinics in its stores, and Patti Sohn, the nurse practitioner who launched them, say they might return.
Sohn described InstaClinic LLC as “in transition” and “restructuring.” She said how many clinics open and their locations will “hinge on continued discussions with Schnucks and our other potential partners.”
Sohn said, “Much depends on community need and the physical space available within the various Schnuck markets.”

From the front door of his 3-month-old walk-in clinic, Bucky Boaz can keep an eye on his competition.
The corner of Alafaya Drive and Lake Underhill Road in east Orange County features a Florida Hospital Centra Care, a Walgreens Take Care Health Clinic and a CVS Minute Clinic — in addition to The miniER that Boaz co-owns. A Publix Little Clinic is less than 2 miles away.
Nevertheless, business is brisk at The mini- ER, especially since mid-May, when Boaz had an outdoor-advertising balloon put up at the busy intersection. A nurse practitioner with 10 years of emergency-room experience, Boaz said his Waterford Lakes clinic is treating about 175 patients a week.

During three decades in the travel industry, Hal Rosenbluth emphasized customer service, convenience and interconnectivity, building Rosenbluth International into a business travel giant with US$6 billion in annual sales before selling it to American Express in 2003. A year later, Rosenbluth entered the healthcare market, founding the convenient care clinic chain Take Care Health.
Take Care Health now has 145 locations, with plans for 400 by the end of this year, competing for market share with Wal-Mart and CVS in an increasingly crowded industry. Rosenbluth sold Take Care Health to Walgreens in 2007 but stayed on as chairman and senior strategy consultant to Walgreens. He spoke with H&HN Staff Writer Haydn Bush.

Take Care Health Systems, which opened three walk-in clinics in the Denver area last month, said Tuesday it will have as many as 16 in the state by year’s end.
The clinics are going in Walgreens locations; the pharmacy giant owns Take Care Health Systems.
The initial Colorado locations were in the Walgreens at 5190 W. 120th Ave. in Broomfield; 19028 Lincoln Ave. in Parker; and 4401 Wadsworth Blvd. in Wheat Ridge.
The clinics are staffed by nurse practitioners who treat patients 18 months and older for common illnesses and can write prescriptions. The hours are 8 a.m.-7:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
